  • Good teen/YA books with an interesting storyline. Road trips, cruises, adventure. Holidays. Themes like these?

Posted by admin on January 19th, 2010 and filed under adventure trips | 1 Comment »

Chicken Soup for the teenage soul. There are a few editions and the books consist of many short stories and poems written by real teenagers and people not just authors. The stories are divided into different subjects like family, friends, drugs, death, happiness etc.

What’s a good intellectual adventure for college students?

What’s a good intellectual adventure for college students, preferably dealing with science or mathematics?
The trip will be about 3 weeks long. Any ideas?

Check with your university’s study abroad department and see if there is anything appealing. There should be some short term trips of a scientific nature. If you go through your college, you are more likely to get credit for your adventure.

What would be a good backpacking trail for my BoyScout Troop?

It is for our High Adventure trip. It will be for about 20 people and it is going to be around the 4th of July to the 13th of July. Please, I need some ideas for our meeting next monday.

    Thanks

North America is the best place for backpacking in the wilderness.

Going to Disneyland/ Disney California Adventure, what do you reccomend for rides and sites and fun?

Posted by admin on November 12th, 2009 and filed under adventure trips | 5 Comments »

I am going on a trip with my band in march to Disneyland or Disney California Adventure or both. What do you reccomend me and my TEENAGE friends go on? What are some TEEN FRIENDLY attractions? What are some TEEN ORIENTED restaraunts that aren’t too fast food? Thanks!

At Disneyland I would definitely say going on the Matterhorn, Star Tours, Thunder Mountain, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain and all those faster rides. Since you guys are teenagers you probably won’t want to spend a lot of time in Fantasyland. A ride you guys would probably really enjoy that is kind of a kiddy-ride is Autopia. You guys can drive on the track and bump each other (even though you’re really not supposed to) and it’s so much fun! For restaurants try the Plaza Inn on Main Street and the Pizza Port in Tomorrowland. And a show that is a must-see at Disneyland is a night time show called Fantasmic, so make sure you see that.

At California Adventure DEFINITELY go on California Screamin’. Also go on Maliboomer, Mulholland Madness, Grizzly Rapids, Soarin’ Over California and Mickey’s Fun Wheel. They are all fun and make sure you go on Grizzly Rapids mid-day because you will get soaked on that ride. (I don’t really know many restaurants there, sorry!)

looking for a portable gps system for canoe trips?

Posted by admin on October 25th, 2009 and filed under adventure trips | 3 Comments »

my husband leads canoe trips and goes on crazy kayaking and canoing adventures and was talking about this portable gps system that also gave real time weather reports etc from anywhere, even when he’s in the middle of nowhere with no phone etc. i am not sure where to find this or where to even begin looking for it! does anyone know what he may have been thinking of or where i could find one for xmas?

Sounds like a Rhino GPS, you can try searching that on google or yahoo. Also, www.backpacker.com and www.backcountry.com has great reviews. If you were to buy one online I`d get it from Backcountry.com since they have a no questions asked return policy, so if that waterproof gps takes a little too much abuse and ends up in the drink without being sealed you can return it no questions asked for a new one or for a refund.

Agent planned journeys vs planning your own adventure. What is your choice? What are your experiences?

Posted by admin on October 6th, 2009 and filed under adventure trips | 1 Comment »

Am looking to travel to africa and europe. As I’ve looked into it, I’ve found many of those trips that have been planned out by an agency. The itinerary is fully planned as to where you are each day and you can pick the type to suit (like active etc). How good are these trips? Do you prefer this to planning your own trip or vice versa? I want some input as to which I should choose.
So.. agent planned or self planned?

"Without a travel agent…you’re on your own!" At least that’s our industry’s motto.

For Europe, you can really do it either way. Not so dangerous, and much easier to "wing it."

For Africa: You really need a good travel agent. Like me! :) A good agent can plan you a custom trip, with the itinerary being as structured or free-flowing as you prefer. You need someone who is specialized – most of your corner travel agencies know little to nothing about Africa.

Can I help you plan your trip? You can find my employer on the web at www.african-safari.com. Or contact me directly: phil@african-safari.com.

Is 62 too old to seek this kind of adventure?

Posted by admin on September 29th, 2009 and filed under adventure trips | 28 Comments »

I fixed up a bicycle with a motor.Plan to take long trips and camp out most nights.Health is bad and will have to build up to it.Might die out there but I’ll die of boredom at home.

I would rather die in a tent than in front of a tv. But start with a couple short trips first….

Does Islands of Adventure in Orlando Have Lockers?

Posted by admin on September 25th, 2009 and filed under adventure trips | 3 Comments »

My son is going on a field trip and wanted to know if there are lockers at Islands of Adventure. Could you tell me where they are located when you enter the park and how much? Thanks for your help.

They have lockers that cost $1 on the left as you enter the park. They also have short term lockers located by most of the big rollercoasters. I know he will have a great time!
