  • How can I convince my mom to let me go on a plane for a summer trip?

Posted by admin on February 18th, 2010 and filed under adventure trip | 1 Comment »

I got an invite for a summer adventure trip and my mom doesn’t want me to go because she is scared about the terrorists trying to blow up planes and all. So, how can i convince her otherwise?

it is safer now than ever cuz they have added extra security since the bombing attempt.
if it a domestic flight it is even safer, terrorists usually go for intetnational flights. flying is safer than cars or boat or train. i fly between north america and south america every year, and i have never had a terrorist try to blow up the plane, my dad travels to europe frequently and has never had it either, my uncle travels almost every week within the u.s. for his job, and he has never experiened an attak, my other uncle travels regularly to africa, the middle east, asia and south america and he has never had a terorist either, so considering how often we all fly, and none of us have ever seen a terrorist, it does not make sence to worry about it, besides that is what they want you to do , if you worry you are letting them win.

    anyway, good luck convincing her.

Ideas for summer trip for high school senior?

Posted by admin on January 16th, 2010 and filed under adventure trip | 3 Comments »

I have a high school senior whose summer plans have fallen thru. He is very disappointed. Does anyone have any ideas for a replacement trip. He planned to camp/stay in hostels in Montana and the buddies now can’t make it. He’s probably on his own. I’m wondering if there are some summer adventure type trips he could sign up for. Serious answers only please.
I know traveling along is lonely so I’m really looking for ideas for group travel — like a tour aimed at older teens.

I took a two week bus tour through Scotland before going to college. I had family over there so it was nice to see where they live and where my family comes from. Its been a while for me, but I just remember wanting to just relax for the summer.

Right know he is thinking of a trip with his cousin to Belize for a week in the jungle with only a camera and machete. His mother would like to see a trip that includes a guide. He has traveled to 18 counties, so he is aware of what to watch out for. I can go with the guide plan, he has done the inca trail, Angel falls, Bolivia high desert, Patagonia.

The West Coast Trail on Vancouver Island. I know its not exotic but it takes around 7 days to complete and is known around the world.

    3/5 Day Kakadu Trip,Australia(Adventure)?

Posted by admin on November 1st, 2009 and filed under adventure trip | 1 Comment »

A trip for energetic @ active over 50s,not into coach travel @ easy options. Not a trip limited to 18-35s only.

If your not into coach travel,(dont blame you for that)-then you have several other options.you can hire a 4 wheel drive and go it alone–not recomended, simply because you could break down up there.there are groups that get together with several vehicles and some hire motor homes or tow a pop up caravan,if your from the states,i think you call them trailers.you are thinking of visiting our far north, you have to aquire permits for certain areas,as there is a lot of aboriginal land up there.this is not a problem.it is a magnificent journey, you will never regret it.just fly to perth western australia and get to your nearest travel agency for options, or do your planning before you leave.as for age,it is a way of life here in australia to retire and do this north west trip.you will be constantly camping and chatting with retirees good luck.

What are the best, most original places to go on a road trip along Interstate 5, from Vancouver to California?

Posted by admin on October 30th, 2009 and filed under adventure trip | 2 Comments »

My friends and I want to go on a road trip for about 6 weeks between Vancouver and California this summer. We want to see all the coolest, weirdest and wackiest things that Washington, Oregon and California have to offer. Small towns, beautiful landscapes, obsqure museums, etc…We also really want to meet lots of people along the way. Any advice about cheap places to stay (motels, camp sites, whatever) and eat would also be fantastic.
We love all things retro so ideas on things like old disco diners, drive in movies, or anything else would be great. This is our dream trip, our last adventure before our lives take us different ways, please suggested things that will make this trip as memorable(for better or for worse) as possible. Thanks

You should consider diving along the coast highway in California. Look at a map and check out highways 101 & 1. Besides Mt. Shasta, Shasta Lake and the Shasta Caverns, there isn’t much to see along I-5. I-5 was built to move traffic up & down the state rapidly, not for its senic beauty or roadside attractions. It’s boring, especially through the Central Valley, unless you like seeing miles upon miles of totally flat lettuce and vegetable farms, stretching all the way to the horizon for hours on end. Most of the time, the only places to stop are run-of-the-mill fast food joints, AM/PM minimarkets, and truckstops.
The coast has: Artcata, a funky little town with a statue of President Mckinley in the town square, and Samoa Cookhouse, with its all you can eat, lumberjack cafeteria style breakfast. Humbold Redwoods State Park, where you can drive down the "Avenue of the Giants," which parallels the highway, and you can see 300 ft tall redwoods. San Francisco, where the coast highway crosses the Golden Gate Bridge, and passes through the city. Monterey. Cannery Row is a bit touristy now, but still nice to drive through. Big Sur. Hearst Castle in San Simeon is cool to check out. San Luis Obisbo and Santa Barbara are nice, larger coastal cities to visit. Then it’s on into the morass of the LA freeways, where you can link back up with I-5 and continue to San Diego.
The coast highway is slower than I-5, but the scenery and views of the ocean are spectacular, and you will have more chances to talk to locals along the way. I-5 is so booooring, unless hearing "can I take your order please" through a drive-thru speaker at McDonalds is all the conversation you want to have with locals. Trust me on this one.
