Hi everyone. I am 23 years old girl, and I had been saving money to travel to China for AGES now. I can speak Chinese pretty well (been studying it for a good time now).
My question is as follow: I would like to go as an independent tourist in Beijing. Is it safe going there alone for the first time? Is it safe just taking my backpack and go for the adventure? Or is it a bit risky the first time?
I saved over 5000 dollars. Do you think it is enough for me to stay there for 2 or 3 weeks?

Thanks for your answers.

It should be safe. Like any touristy area in the world you need to watch out for pickpockets and scams. Make sure you only take taxis with meters, and that they USE the meter. Beijing has a good subway system though that I preferred using. I’ve heard it sometimes happens where you will meet some ‘friendly’ locals and they will say they want to practice their English and you should go to a tea shop with them. Then they will charge $50 for tea in the end. So watch out for that.

Yes $5000 is more than enough.

Ecotourism involves arranged tours to areas where tourism has had a minimal impact on the native flora and fauna. Thus the visitor can expect the environment to be as natural as possible, yet still comfortable. An ecotourist is interested in seeing birds, animals, fish, forests etc. that have been relatively untouched by humans. Adventure tourism focuses on activities such as white water rafting, zip-lining through rain forest canopies, ocean kayacking etc. Cultural tourism focuses on the cultural (language, customs, art, literature, architecture etc) aspects of a country, city etc.

I am an early-twenties Canadian university student engaged to be married. My fiance and I have a deep desire to experience different cultures as we feel this will help us become well-rounded and better people. We know that we are very privileged to even have the opportunity to travel so our desire is to volunteer or contribute to where we go (instead of spending tons on tourism and a hedonistic lifestyle) and experience local culture. I’m looking for advice on how best to travel without spending tons of money, without forgetting what I learned in my education (physics/biochemistry) so that I’m employable when I return, how to get deals on accommodation, how to work where I go or what volunteer opportunities are best, how to stay safe, what languages to learn and anything else that would be helpful. We have interest in going pretty much anywhere in Europe, South America, Africa and Australia. Thanks!
I was hoping to travel for anywhere between 1 and 4 years… What is doable?

You might try researching volunteer opportunities that can use your area of education. if the organization is well established enough they should be able to help you with planning your trip or advise you on what you may need.

Describing the rural project as "responsible tourism", the Tourism Secretary, Shri Sujit Banerjee said: "This is a very innovative rural tourism project which positions India’s rural way of life as a unique visitor experience." "Now we are going into wellness, cruise, rural, adventure and faith tourism," Shri Banerjee said. He also said that the current global financial downturn will not affect the burgeoning tourism industry in the country.

if you really wanted to see the rural life of India, you need to go to Rajasthan and Punjab in India. Stay there for couple of weeks and you can see what really India is.

Real Indian guys are really soft hearted and hardworking guys. only in the rural areas You can see what humanity is!
and in urban areas you can see what diversity do India have.

Hey,

Get the data of the target cities and use bulk sms to promote your company and service to the target audience through Bulk SMS. It will be really rewarding. Contact these people , they are very good in this . Their mail id is" info@dotsonline.in "
