  • What are some fun activities that I can do with my boyfriend now that I am pregnant?

Posted by admin on January 30th, 2010 and filed under adventure activities | 5 Comments »

We like adventure but we dont want to do anything that is going to hurt the baby. Is there anything that is fun and safe?

    *Serious Answers Please*

"Adventures" are tough when you are pregnant. You can do normal exercise, the general rule is that you don’t want to raise your heart rate or your body temp when exercising. You can go on a hike as long as it’s not really extreme weather, or go swimming in a river or somewhere else interesting. Travel is safe (if you can afford it) up until the last couple of months of your pregnancy, maybe take the opportunity to go on a little getaway together to an exotic place, you may not get another chance for a while once the little one arrives. Hope that helps!

Where is the best place in Purto Rico for adventure?

Where and what kind of activities?

If by adventure you mean caving, exploring underground rivers, hiking, rappelling, and zip lining then the link I’m providing you with will lead you there. This place is fantastic and I’ve heard nothing but good things about them and the services they provide. http://www.aventuraspr.com/

If you want to explore some of the worlds best diving then try Desecheo, it’s an Island off of Rincon and it sits very close to the deepest trench in the Atlantic Ocean. The visibility is spectacular, the coral is untouched and there are tons of fish. Here is a link to info on the island as well as info for dive trips.

Baja Mexico Vacation: Cheap Accomodation & Adventure Ideas?

Posted by admin on November 15th, 2009 and filed under adventure activities | 1 Comment »

I received two free tickets to San Diego, CA. I’ve been there, but would like to rent a jeep and drive to Mexico for 9 days. I have off from work 9 days in mid-September.

Any one have any recommendations for a city, hotel, rental cottage, etc. within 2 days drive of San Diego? Requirements: ON a beach Directly ON the Pacific or Sea of Cortez & offering snorkeling/scuba. Plus, any other "adventure" activities nearby (boat rental, ATV riding, horses, etc.) would be an added bonus. Free continental breakfast would be great, but "all inclusive" is a waste on light eaters who also do not drink.
    :-)

Travel agents feel free to reply, but I am really looking for someone with direct recent experience with a place they liked or perhaps a property or B&B owner. There would be just two of us going. COST IS AN ISSUE: I don’t need a 5 star hotel, just someplace clean and comfy to rest my head after a busy day.

Thanks for any and all assistance and recommendation

I don’t know where you’ll be able to rent a jeep or why you think you need a jeep.

Most rental companies do not allow car to be taken across the border.
    Here are some that do:

What are some fun affordable activities to do in Maui in January?

Posted by admin on November 12th, 2009 and filed under adventure activities | 3 Comments »

Going on a 7 day family holiday with 8 adults. We are staying in a condo so won’t be able to sign up like usual at the hotel. We like to do anything fun outdoors, eco-adventure, and relaxing…we are up for anything. Just need some memorable moments to look back on. If there is any good reliable websites that can help please let me know. Thanks

My husband and I loved the Hana lava cave tour… it was just us and our tour guide, who owned the caves (how cool would THAT be to OWN your own lava tubes… those lava tubes had endless places to explore!). One of the great things about the lava tubes are that there are no bats, bugs or other creepy-crawly-type things in there… just the hardened lava.

We also loved our day-trip to Lanai – we got to snorkel in 2 spots, plus walk around the island a bit. On the boat ride back, we found a bunch of dolphins who swam right alongside our boat! I could have reached out and touched them – they were THAT close!! It was absolutely amazing!

Since you specified affordable, I’d highly recommend driving the Road to Hana – if you can, allow for 1 day there and 1 day back – that way, you can see EVERYTHING along the way, and all it will cost you is gas money (plus hotel if you stay the night in Hana).

Also, if you go a bit past Hana, you can hike the 4.5 mile trail that ends at the 400′ Waimoku falls – to save money, you can go without a guide – We saw absolutely breathtaking views – bamboo forests, jungles, waterfalls – it’s just incredible!

Another FREE activity is snorkeling at the famous Black Rock on Kaanapali beach – there are TONS of marine life there, and it’s known as a great spot for beginners.

Another cheap activity is driving up to the summit of Mt. Haleakala – don’t think you HAVE to go at sunrise either! If early mornings aren’t your thing, you’ll still get great views a little later on – we went late morning and it was still awesome! Plus, if you like to hike, you can research ahead of time some of the trails up there – the views are wickedly awesome, and unlike anything else on Maui.

If you want detailed descriptions of some of the more adventurous things to do on Maui, my husband and I have all of our favourite Maui adventures here:

    Have a great trip!

Looking for a Christian Camp/Adventure Experience for Father/Son…please help!?

Posted by admin on November 9th, 2009 and filed under adventure activities | 3 Comments »

Looking for a Christian experience for a father/teen with emphasis on the teen aspect and growing into a young man of character. Want lots of adventure activities like rock climbing, hiking, canoeing, etc. Looking for 4-7 days camp with other Father and sons. If you have been to one that you would highly recommend please let me know. Sometimes these are best to find with referrals. I do not want one that has younger sons going to it. My husband wants to do this with all of our boys when they are age 14-16. We found one that looked great but was between $3000-$4000 and I thought that was expensive. Seminars blended with the adventure activities on becoming a Godly man would also be welcomed.

    Anyone have any great ideas??!!

I would suggest contacting Noah’s Ark in Colorado. They are a rafting, backpacking, adventure company in Central Colorado that hires a Christian staff. I don’t believe they run specific camps, they mostly provide the facilities and staff and equipment to other groups looking to do what you are talking about.

    http://www.noahsark.com/

I’ve been on three trips with them as a teen and loved the challenges. I went with my youth group, but really would have loved to do those trips with my Dad.

I’m guessing that with the right materials and personality you might not even need an organized group to join. Take a look at some of the things that Family Life has to offer, such as Passport 2 Purity or similar.
    http://www.familylife.com/site/c.dnJHKLNnFoG/b.3955827/k.902E/Passport2Purity.htm

If he wants to try it all on their own I would be happy to help him develop the travel plans, equipment, etc. I volunteer with an outdoor ministry called Riverside Outdoor Ministry in Denver, Colorado. Although what you are asking for is not a specific part of our curriculum I’d love to help your husband get it all in order if he’d like to plan it himself.

There is also anther option that comes be referral only. My wife’s second cousin runs a ministry deep in the Colorado mountains that would offer an amazing opportunity for a father/son time that is spiritually focused. I know he would help guide discussion times and lead both men toward God in their time there. Their ministry is called Big Horn Ministries and I don’t believe they have a web site. I do my best to spend a few days out there each year with the guys and I look forward to taking my son hunting there when he is of age.

If you click on my profile you can send me an email to get more information or to get my phone number to talk directly.

I’m sure there are camps available that offer exactly what you are talking about, but I am not familiar with those. I can give you what I know and connect you to other people who know more if you are interested.

Is it safe to use your bank details to book something online?

Posted by admin on November 6th, 2009 and filed under adventure activities | 2 Comments »

It is my first time trying to book online. i am going to book an outdoor adventure activity in the UK, they sent me the booking form and i must put my bank details such as card number, cvc NO. card expiry.

but i dont know how it works. the employees working there can easiliy use these information to buy things for themselves or they can use it these information when they leave their job.

how can i be sure that its safe?

I recommend opening up another bank account for any online purchases. Any time you want to buy something just transfer over the amount needed from your main account. I’ve kept my student account for this very purpose. It just removes all doubt
