  • looking for a portable gps system for canoe trips?

Posted by admin on October 25th, 2009 and filed under adventure trips | 3 Comments »

my husband leads canoe trips and goes on crazy kayaking and canoing adventures and was talking about this portable gps system that also gave real time weather reports etc from anywhere, even when he’s in the middle of nowhere with no phone etc. i am not sure where to find this or where to even begin looking for it! does anyone know what he may have been thinking of or where i could find one for xmas?

Sounds like a Rhino GPS, you can try searching that on google or yahoo. Also, www.backpacker.com and www.backcountry.com has great reviews. If you were to buy one online I`d get it from Backcountry.com since they have a no questions asked return policy, so if that waterproof gps takes a little too much abuse and ends up in the drink without being sealed you can return it no questions asked for a new one or for a refund.

You probably don’t need a certain GPS for a canoeing trip but, if you want one for it i would recommend a water proof portable GPS.

Go on the GARMIN web site.. I was just looking there a few minutes ago and they have some great buys on RECONDITIONED units. They are the world’s leader in hand held GPS units.. I have had 3 of them and recommend them highly.
