Along with blogging about my mini-adventures, there will be video and photo updates. Keep tabs, because updates will be made every few days!
Good luck
I have finished the full series of Avatar: the last airbender and would like to start another adventure series.

What was your favourite country/location to travel to and why?
Rome. Walking through that city was like walking through a museum.
We are headed to Costa Rica in December for our 2 week Honeymoon. I am thinking we may do a "package tour" for our first week with Sunquest. The remaining week we’d like to travel around a bit doing some adventure activities and then the last few nights relaxing on the beach at an all-inclusive. Anyone have any recommendations for reasonably / cheap priced indiscovered inns / lodges near lots of adventure? Also, lookin for a great all-inclusive on the beach fairly close to San Jose.
I recently found this website and will be using it locate lodging in my future trips to Costa Rica. I’ve found some really interesting places and great deals. I could just tell you were I stayed in the past, but Costa Rica has many fun areas and you may not want to visit the areas I’ve gone to. So check out: http://www.anywherecostarica.com/hotels – you can get prices, pictures, etc.
Anywhere with a large tourist population will have lots of activities. Everywhere I’ve gone had an abundance.
San Jose is in the central region of Costa Rica, so there aren’t any beaches there. You’ll need to go to the coast.
Movies like How the West Was Won, Indian Fighter, Butch Cassidy, etc? Preferably something that isn’t shot mostly in the dry desert like most westerns.
The Naked Prey–a guide in Africa takes a group on a safari but they run afoul of the local tribe. the kill everyone but the guide and he’s on the run for his life through the wilds of Africa. it’s shot in African savannah which is pretty dry (though different than westerns), but it’s so great I had to include it.
Southern Comfort–a National Guard group gets lost in the Louisiana swamps and they’re being hunted by the local cajuns
The Naked Jungle–Charlton Heston owns a farm in South America and gets a mail order bride. Then the marabunta comes–a swarm of invading ants that can kill everything in their path.
Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan–a more serious movie about the traditional story. very sad.
Master and Commander–great adventure story about an English navy ship hunting a French ship in the waters of the new world
Spartacus–roman gladiator rebels and leads his army across Italy
The Bridge on the River Kwai–must-see war classic. british troops are japanese pows pressed into building a bridge. shot mostly in jungles
Papillon–Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman are imprisoned on a French penal colony and try to escape.
Never Cry Wolf–true story of a government researcher who goes to Alaska to study wolves. excellent, but a bit more like a documentary feel though.
The Edge–Anthony Hopkins and Alec Baldwin get lost in the wilds of Alaska and have to find their way back home
My friends and I are on vacation and we want a fun park to go to. We are in our early 20’s so we won’t be going on any small kid rides. Which park is better for a bunch of young adults who like rollercoasters?
I’m 30 and I just got back from universal islands of adventure and disney both. And it is Universal islands of adventure for the win!! It was awesome. Disney is great and all but the lines are looooong and it is hot! Islands of adventure has lots of water rides, check out the incredible hulk on you tube, it was great, they have jurassic park, harry potter, oh man I miss it!! So after doing both universal is the best dueling dragons, check that out too! They have universal city walk there too, and that is fun to check out as well. Either or you will have fun, but I vote for universal.
We are a senior citizen couple (ages 66 & 64, relatively good health) with 6 days to enjoy the country. We love nature, history and culture, but not keen on high energy adventure tours or very formal dining and entertainment.
My three favorite places to visit in Costa Rica are Tortuguero, Arenal, and Manual Antonio.
There is a great tour to Tortuguero where they pick you up in San Jose and bring you back a couple days later. You ride on a riverboat through canals filled with wildlife such as monkeys, sloths, anteaters, birds and then stay in a nice hotel. At night they can arrange for you to hire a guide to take you on the beach to see nesting sea turtles or baby sea turtle hatchlings. The tour guides of the riverboat tour are Fran and Modesto and they are wonderful!! Send Fran an email and she is quick to answer ALL of your questions. Here is the website— http://www.tortuguerocanals.com/text/home/home.shtml
The Arena Volcano is amazing! There is plenty to do in this little area including hiking, going to the hot springs, visiting the little town of La Fortuna and relaxing at your hotel watching the constant flow of the lava. I am planning to stay again at Hotel Linda Vista Del Norte. http://www.hotellindavista.com/ Make sure to get a room with "lava views."
Manuel Antonio is located on the West Coast and is definitley the most Americanized out of the three locations. It includes some beautiful beaches and a national park for hiking. There are plenty of hotels and condos to rent.
San Jose is the best place to learn about the history and culture so maybe spend a day or so there. Good luck with all of your planning. CR is such a wonderful place to visit! Oh and don’t worry about not speaking Spanish. I tried to brush up on my Spanish speaking skills before my last trip but then all of the locals spoke to me in English. I had to ask them to speak in Spanish so I could give it a try!
Heading to VA Beach for vacation & have heard it’s a party scene. I’m interested in outdoor/adventure activities (kayaking, surfing, nature, paddleboarding) plus museums
Virginia Beach really isn’t a "party scene." All the activities you listed are available, but it’s more of a family oriented atmosphere than a drunken spring break kind of place… not that I’m suggesting it’s what you meant by "party scene", I’m just pointing out the differences.
I am in the mood for some good outdoor/adventure movies this weekend.. any recommendations. I am looking for movies like Into the Wild, Touching the Void, etc
The Great Outdoors is a funny outdoors movie
Ok, this is really wierd, and I can’t for the life of me think of this movie. I remember seeing a trailer for it at some point. Don’t know if it was online, or another movie, and can’t even remember how long ago I saw it (but at least a couple months)
It seemed to be an adventure/horror type film, but not much was reavealed by the trailer. For some reason I’m thinking it took place on an island (not sure on that though) or while a couple/group of people were on a vacation. In the trailer it showd a man and woman (maybe a group) of people hiking on some clifs…i think. and maybe some of them disappeared?
Anyways I don’t think it’s out yet on DVD, and honestly, I don’t know if its even been to theaters yet. I sort of think it hasn’t because I think I woulda heard something about it, or seen another trailer on tv. Maybe the one trailer i saw was just a really early teaser trailer????
but then again, maybe it was just a critical flop. which doesn’t matter cuz there have been plenty of movies that the critics didn’t like that i did.
Also, it looked like it was filmed good with cool outdoor views, young actors, I don’t think there were any really big A list actors in it. Thats about all i can remember, If you know what i’m talking about, please tell, thanks
